Anise Myrtle is a lush rainforest tree from the north coast of NSW. it imparts an unmistakably aniseed flavour simply by crushing the leaf. Use a little for subtle flavour in steamed rice, seafood dishes, stir fries, biscuits, ice-cream and as a garnish for cocktails.
Part used
Mature leaves. The leaves are dried and milled and used as a tea or flavour ingredient in cooking, they can also be used to obtain anise myrtle essential oil by steam distilling. Indigenous Australians traditionally used it medicinally which had a vitalising effect
